Easter – Monday 30th March to Friday 10th April (weekdays only)
Continuing our Portsmouth 100 centennial celebrations, this Easter explore at what the Tudors liked to cook and eat, what food they could find (and forage) and how healthy it was compared to our 2026 diet.
Portsmouth grew significantly in the Tudor period when it needed to supply Henry’s hungry troops, with bakeries and breweries springing up all over the town.

Fiddle Loom Weaving Demonstration
Thursday 2nd April & Friday 3rd April, 1100 to 1500
Come and see the fiddle loom in action in our “Men of the Lower Decks’ gallery! The sailors on the Mary Rose would have woven sturdy ‘strops’ on this simple loom. Strops like these were then used to help move awkward or heavy items between decks or between smaller boats and the ship.
