Further Education

Learning at the Mary Rose Museum doesn’t end with sessions for schools. We regularly work in partnership with universities and other further education providers and can tailor sessions to every group.

Post-16: Marketing Challenge

How does the Mary Rose Museum function as a business? How can we compete in a time of rising costs? What would you do to attract a wider audience?

An opportunity for students to undertake a practical challenge in a thriving heritage business and to present their own ideas about visitor engagement. This session explores the Mary Rose Museum as a tourist attraction and as a business. Pupils will meet a member of our Visitor Engagement or Marketing team and then be set a challenge regarding attracting more visitors to the Museum which they will present to their peers and the museum staff.

Post-16: Archaeology and History Session

A bespoke session for students studying history and archaeology at A-Level or undergraduate. Previous sessions have included: the archaeological science used at the Museum; specific themes such as shipbuilding, religious practice, and government; extended workshops covering source analysis and interpretation. Each session takes advantage of the unique artefacts in our collection and the depth of knowledge and experience we have at the Museum.
