Octagonal mirror

81A2013

This 160mm octagonal beech wooden frame has some similarities with an illustration from Amsterdam that depicts a mirror frame. The blackened middle section would be where the reflective surface, probably silver, was fixed.

Its potential Dutch origin matches many other ‘luxury items’ recovered from the Mary Rose, such as the pocket sundials and some of the earthenware and glassware.
