Made of beech and poplar, this lantern, or lanthorn, was found stored below decks in the orlop deck, right at the stern of the ship.

It stands 12 inches tall, and has a pivoted door, allowing access to the candle that would have been mounted on a pin inside (since corroded away!) Instead of glass, the transparent panels would have been made of thin sheets of horn, which while not completely transparent let out enough light to see what you were doing below decks!
