Hattingley Valley Wines lend their Support to Mary Rose 40th Anniversary Celebrations

Last weekend the Mary Rose proudly kicked off a week of celebrations to mark 40 years since the raising of Henry VIII’s favourite warship with a special Diver’s Reunion weekend here at the Mary Rose Museum. On Saturday evening former divers and associated teams who all played a part in raising the hull of the Mary Rose back in 1982 came from across the globe to honour this significant milestone.

To celebrate this extraordinary achievement a special drinks reception was held here within the Mary Rose Museum and we were delighted to have been supported on the night by Hattingley Valley Wines. Locally produced here in Hampshire – Hattingley generously supplied their award winning English Sparkling wine enabling us to make the evening a true celebration for all involved.

Rebecca Fisher, Hattingley Valley Wines commented about supporting the divers reunion

‘Hattingley Valley Wines were proud to support the 40th Anniversary of the Mary Rose Diver Reunion by supplying our award-winning English sparkling wine, the Classic Reserve NV, for the occasion. As a Hampshire winery and vineyard, it was wonderful for us to play a part in commemorating such a memorable event in local Hampshire history’.

Sally Tyrell, Head of Anniversary added

‘We are immensely grateful for the support Hattingley Valley Wines gave us in helping to make the divers reunion a special event for everyone.  We were delighted to have the opportunity to serve locally produced wine for our guests here in the home of the Mary Rose’.

From its birth as a farm diversification project, Hattingley’s grown to become one of the leading wineries in the UK. Simon Robinson planted his first vineyard in 2008. Now stands a 600 tonne, eco-friendly winery that was purpose built in 2010. The Silver-washed Fritillary Butterfly, common in Europe but rare in Britain, is found in the chalk-based vineyard indicating a healthy environment with a rich biodiversity. The Fritillary isn't seen everywhere but it's a lovely thing to behold, a bit like our English sparkling Vegan-friendly wines. Open for behind-the-scene tours and tastings.
