Henry VIII - Actor

Salary Detail: FTE £16,584 – (pro rata – based on hours worked)

Hours of work: Casual contract – seasonal work to include events and weekends

 

The Mary Rose is looking for someone to portray Henry VIII over the summer months, welcoming visitors, engaging with the crowds, taking part in events and generally having fun!

The Mary Rose has received fantastic visitor reviews and been shortlisted for a number of prestigious awards.  Our new marketing collateral brings Henry VIII to the forefront of our unique Tudor story. With increasing numbers of public events we are looking for someone to who can welcome visitors throughout peak times at the museum and beyond. 

This will be an opportunity to join our vibrant team on a casual contract, with particular focus on working during school holidays and special events.  The role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and we are keen to talk to anyone with an interest in the role. You don’t need to be an expert in history or a professional actor – we are looking for people with bags of enthusiasm looking to make our visitors smile. Auditions to be held in our open casting on 4th July at the Mary Rose Museum (costumes provided).

Finance Assistant

 Salary: £9,189 - £12,837 (FTE £17k - £19k)

Part Time: 20 - 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

 

The Mary Rose has received fantastic visitor reviews and been shortlisted for a number of prestigious awards.  The Mary Rose has begun marketing and selling tickets directly to the public and groups so is seeking to appoint a part time Finance Assistant to join our friendly Finance Team.    

The role covers a variety of finance processes including purchase orders, customer invoicing, employee expense claims and petty cash. To make a success of this role you should have an understanding and experience of accounts together with confidence in the use of excel. A customer focused and pragmatic approach to work with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and keen attention to detail.

Volunteering

Join our award-winning team of volunteers

‘Being a volunteer is a privilege to be able to share knowledge of the Mary Rose to a large variety of visitors from all over the World.  It is interesting, fun and tremendously satisfying to be part of the team.’

Buggy Driver

 

We are currently recruiting a number of new Volunteer Buggy Drivers to assist those with mobility needs by driving between the entrance of the Historic Dockyard and the Mary Rose.  As a member of our team, full training will be provided.

One of our regular drivers had the following to say about driving the buggy: -

‘I had recently retired and was looking for an interest to fill my time.  I volunteer for the Mary Rose Museum as a buggy driver two days a week days.  It has given me the opportunity to meet visitors from all over the World and all walks of life.  I love to chat to them and listen to their enthusiasm regarding their Mary Rose experience.’

If you are over the age of 21, hold a full, clean driving licence, interested in volunteering at the Mary Rose and available from 09:45am-17:30 for at least one day each week, we would love to hear from you.

Welcome Volunteers

 

Work alongside our friendly Guest Relations Team at the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, you will meet and greet visitors and engage with them in making the most of their visit, including signposting to what is on that day.  You will also have the opportunity to assist with manning the information desk.

As part of our training scheme you will undergo an initial induction and full support and ongoing training will also be provided.
