As the start of June marks Volunteers’ Week, it is a good opportunity to look back on just how far the Digitisation project has come. Some incredible progress was made by the Collections Volunteer team in May – their collective efforts mean that 3,927 slides had been digitised by the end of May! It is easy to see the progress made against our ambitions 15,000 images target on the digitisation “thermometer” and we are looking forward to even more images being digitised over the coming months.

However, we were sad to say goodbye to Jade, one of our Volunteer team, who recently completed her University course and is now going onto seek exciting new opportunities back home. She wrote about her time as a Collections Volunteer in her own blog and picked out a couple of her favourite images from her time with us.

Look ahead

We are all looking ahead to June’s images as we start work on digitising the images taken during the excavations in 1982! With this year marking the 35th anniversary of the raising of the Mary Rose (11th October 1982) we are likely to see things as they happened 35 years ago!
