By the end of June, the Mary Rose Trust Collections Volunteers had digitised 5,651 of the 35mm slides held in the archive. Looking back it’s incredible at just how much progress has been made since the team started on this digitisation project in February. We are over 1/3 of the way towards the target of 15,000 digitised images by March 2018!

This month we were sad to say goodbye to Ruby, who is exploring exciting opportunities to develop her experience by volunteering in other museum collections. We were also sad (and a little bit jealous) saying bye to Imogen who is going on an incredible archaeological dig in Greece! Thanks to both for their much appreciated contribution to the project so far!

Digitisation highlights

The digitisation continues to bring up some really interesting images and stories about the work during the excavations and the artefacts that were recovered. This month, we digitised many of the images taken during 1982, the year the Mary Rose was raised. Below is a selection of some of these images

There are many more exciting and interesting images to be shared over the coming months and in the run up to the 35th Anniversary of the raising.
