"In its final state, the Mary Rose Museum is an exceptional achievement - a museum that has finally reached its last stage of its progressive evolution which started 35 years ago (1982). It is close to perfection in fields as different as the presentation of historical research, underwater archeology, conservation techniques, experimental archeology, architecture, scenography and virtual reality. The ship is now revealed totally, freed from all the technical drying equipment, with various light effects and film screenings on or above the ship itself.
‘Ship, Objects and People’ are the three elements now shaped into in a fascinating history and an impressive display. The emphasis given to the daily activities of the crew on board and the projections over the decks of the original ship's structure strengthen the human dimension of the Mary Rose."
Wow, what a museum
The Mary Rose is a fantastic place to visit. The restoration is incredible right down to seeing leather clothing buried in silt for 500 years. The Mary Rose is so large there are 3 floors dedicated to viewing its different decks. There were no major crowds and this is as professional a museum as I have ever seen.
