1. Outreach Boxes
The Mary Rose has outreach boxes for use by mainstream schools and special schools nationwide. The packs have been designed for use by children who are unable through disability or distance to visit the Mary Rose Museum and Ship at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
DHL have kindly agreed to deliver these free of charge.
Mary Rose Outreach Box – based on members of the ship’s crew these boxes contain 15 replica artefacts as well as real rope and wood, plus additional resources such as books, posters and a teacher’s manual. These boxes are administered by education authorities spread around the United Kingdom. For those areas without a box contact the Mary Rose Trust direct. (See below Booking an Outreach Box)
Mary Rose Special Needs Outreach Box – based on two themes old/new and rich/poor these boxes contain replica objects and other sensory resources including smells and music. A teacher’s manual includes information, line drawings, symbol-supported text for pupils plus ideas for lessons for pupils at levels P1-8 and L1+. Booking an Outreach Pack
The allocation and loan of an Outreach Box to any individual school will be administered through the authorities listed below. Applications for the loan of a pack should be addressed to the appropriate authority.
